Discount Art Supplies
I used to get in my car and just drive around looking for discount art supplies. I was a starving artist then. I'm not much more than that now. But now, at least I get enough commissions to pay the bills. Nothing big. Just a painting here and there. Sometimes a portrait, sometimes their favorite video game character. Whatever anyone wants, I paint for them. Freelancing can get rough, living from month to month, not knowing where the next paycheck is coming from. But it's the life I trained to live. Deep down it makes me happy. I wish things were more steady though.

We don't always get the to live the dream the way we wanted to. I'm not complaining though. Even if I'm forced to look until I find discount art supplies at a price I can afford, I wouldn't complain. That's my philosophy. It's because I know that even with the need for discount art supplies, I'm doing what it is I wanted to do with my life. Not everyone gets to live their dream at all. I can appreciate what I have. I think that's a great thing. Some people can't do that either. They always want more. They're never satisfied with anything. If you live your life that way, then you'll wind up never enjoying what you have. That's a tragic thought for me.
I would take my life of struggle and discount art supplies over a soulless office job any day of the week. That's not to say that a position in an office has to be that way. I say that if that's what you wanted to do with your life, whether it's for the money or for the love, then go for it. Do what fulfills you, you know. That's what's really important at the end of the day. It's not whether I'm experiencing the fairy tale life. Cause there's the way I imagined this road to be when I was a youngster, which didn't involve the struggle or the discount art supplies. Then there's the way things really are. The real world where you have to fight for the life you want to live. Where it doesn't just work out perfectly. But the great thing is that I was lucky enough for it to work out.
I get to paint for a living. How cool is that. I gave up on looking for the things that I need to do it all over town. Now I just have them delivered. It's easier. Besides, I had to give up my car. It wa too hard to make ends meet while paying for it month after month. And in this town, I don't really need one. The trains and buses are pretty good. They run all day and all night and connect me to the entire city. So now I don't drive. I get my discount art supplies delivered, and I stay home and I paint as much as I can. And every day's my day off. Because I love what I do.
